My sims have become alcoholics

Okay, Late Night is pretty fun. I get the feeling sometimes that the developers are actually paying attention to the community and listening to what they want in the game and then trying to implement them but in a way that's different from what came before. I don't really have anything too specific, but I just get that feeling.

Anyway, onto Bridgeport!

Confession here, Mom just upgraded her graphic card in her computer and gave me her old one that was like SUPER powered. (I didn't even know she really knew she could do that.) Man, it's a huge difference between this one and the 8800GT! So Gayl, if you read this, I'll be sending your card back soon.

First up, of course I had to play around with the sliders. I was bemoaning the fact that the men all had the same torso no matter the muscle mass, so I was glad to see the change! (It works on the women as well, but women already have so many custom sliders that their body variety is huge compared to the poor men.)

So first up, regular Brandon with my default skin. I've always liked this skin for the face and the way the abs on the body are just shadowed. Never have been a fan of painted on abs, but these work for me for the most part.

Here is Brandon with the new slider maxed out.

I wanted to see if the default skin really gets in the way. I'd say no, but this skin doesn't look great on larger sims, so I think I do need to edit this one or something to get rid of those abs.

Also, Ick. I'm not a fan of large muscly men like this.

What I settled on. Something in between. Brandon is supposed to have more mass than his brother and be shorter. Jimmy will probably have a bit more muscle since he uses his body much more often than Brandon .

So for this EP, I decided to use Brandon and Kyrene. Who better to explore downtown Bridgeport?

New things I love- one fancy drinks actually do something. I actually like that sims will gain the party animal trait or the insane trait after drinking. I sent Kyrene out, and we almost had a bar brawl.

I also love that sims can form groups again. They can go to bars and order drinks for the group or a round for the bar. The bartender/mixologist will put the drinks on the bar counter, then the sim can actually deliver drinks to people personally.

Here's Kyrene picking up a tray of drinks for her and the guy she's with.

Sims can now stand around while drinking and talk! They'd sort of do it before, but now I can direct them to. I can have them flirt and do other things as they drink.

Also, they can eat at the bar. This is also just a gratuitous shot of Brandon who met up with Kyrene after his work was over.

Brandon has managed to become a minor celeb. See, he was working as a fireman, and he met another minor celebrity there. He managed to impress her, and so he gained a star. So far it got him a slight discount on one drink, he got into one club without having to bribe the bouncer, and he managed to get recognized which gave him a little moodlet.

But Kyrene is the one in the movie start career! I really need to get her on that.

My one complain is the proliferation of stupid elevators. I guess it makes sense. I mean, if you live on the 18th floor, you're not going to run up that many stairs. Still, it seemed silly when there was a house fire in a high rise for Brandon to do this:

Especially considering how difficult it can be to get out of an elevator.

Smooth. Good thing he's cute.

The other funny thing is that both Brandon and Kyrene can think of nothing other than drinking. "Have a drink" is a persistent want that keeps rolling up for Brandon. Sometimes even having a drink at two different places. But then anyone reading Ruin probably won't be surprised to hear that about Brandon or Kyrene, lol. Next up will be some creative woohoo.

So my hacks page has been updated. And if anyone uses the invisible furniture I whipped up using Buzzler's script, I did fix them for Late Night. They're over here.

Nice pics! Great to see you having some fun with Late Night and interesting to see that the sliders work on the default skins - they're not so good on the non-default skins unless they have been updated to work with Late Night. Kyrene will have to get busy, can't see her being happy with Brandon being more of a celeb than she *lol*

Awesome pics! Poor Brandon falling out of the elevator! Sims seem to do that an awful lot though, even ones without the clumsy trait. I've never fallen out of an elevator. And if anyone was going to do it, it would be me!

So do those custom sliders still work with LN? I took mine out because I was getting a pop-up that I'd installed a modification incompatible with my game version, or something.

Mostly, I like LN but I've been really disappointed with the apartments. :( I hate how you can only have one apartment be functional.

Oooh, I want!!! I'm so jealous! I've been really good with my credit cards lately, so I'm seriously considering getting that new computer upgrade I need to be able to play this! :)

I love the new sliders! Hmmm, beefy! lol! Considering one of the dudes I plan on bringing over for my planned TS3 transition, I'm gonna need those! ;)

I need pets too though... wonder how soon those will be happening. And I still need seasons too.

This doesn't add any kind of chemistry system though, does it? I was hoping there would be something like Nightlife brought to TS2 for dating. But I could live without that.

Oh and funny, TS3 did LN - TS2 did NL! They're not very creative with these names, are they, lol!

Illandrya, I heard something about that, but I haven't given it a try yet-- not until I have a proper feel for this EP. So many people were having issues, I was actually nervous to install, so I'm really taking it slow. I only put in my defaults and texture replacements.

Carla, thanks. And lol! I know what you mean. It should NOT be so difficult to get out of an elevator. I've never had an issue either IRL, and I can't even walk in a straight line.

There are issues with the CC sliders. There is no core mod right now to expand the number of sliders (unless Awesome is updated which I haven't checked on). So it's the old issue where if you have too many sliders, they will eat into the number of sliders already present.

I was disappointed by the apartments too. :( At least they look nice, but I couldn't believe that you can't have multiple families living in one.

Larua, lol.

Oh-- *thinks about that* Oh I can probably guess who might come over. At least one of them.

They sort of tried. Sims now have astrological signs, but they aren't tied to personality, so it still feels a little random. I'm sure you could work out a system for it. Kyrene and the guy she gave the drink to were compatible, and they earned relationship points really quickly.

Also, I noticed that too, lol.

Ditto the oddness that you can't have more than one family living in an apartment! Especially since they figured out how for TS2, why would they refuse to do that for TS3? Weird.

Oh, but I'm glad to hear about the semi-working astrological signs! That's fine with me that they're not tied to personality, actually. Even in TS2, I've been moving away from tying their personalities to the pre-designated zodiac points with cheats 'n such.

Can't wait to get my hands on it! I'm making good progress on convincing the hubby that we need a new computer! :)

Nice pics and glad you got LN :) How did you like bridgport? Would you consider having your Sim's live there, or is it just a testing ground for the new EP.

I have to say I was a bit disappointed by Bridgport as a city. At first it looked to big and chaotic, but then when I got used to it, I thought it looked just ugly and I hated being there.

I recommend you try the mods that expand opening hours. There are two versions, one has the bars open 24/7, and one that has closing time but it's at six or seven in the morning. With the default closing times, and specially with how long it takes for Sims to use an elevator, I felt I didn't get enough clubbing time before it was time to go home.

Laura, I don't know, though you do have other doors, but the apartment is only one floor. Disappointing.

Also, lol! If you need any help brainstorming some ideas, you should let me know. We can put our brains together. Just think of the damage we can do!

Ani, thanks. I think Bridgeport is gorgeous. It's mostly just testing ground for the new EP. I am still liking the idea of my customized village world even though there probably isn't enough sims.

Yeah, after playing with it for a while, you do end up getting bored. I hate all the elevators. I think it's nice for a backdrop, but other than that, eh.

Oh I will definitely try the mods for the bars. They're necessary. It's impossible to do anything in Bridgeport within the normal operating hours after a sim gets off work!

Just thought I'd let you know that I had to use Brandon as living proof that TS3 men are gorgeous, lol! He definitely proves the point! ;)

Oh, and on second thought - here you have custom skins working with the muscle slider, right? We need this skin for Kiri's TS3 Corbin! It has nice nipples and belly button, lol! What skin are you using?

The Lunar Fox said...

LOL! Did it work? Was the person convinced?

I have these default skins at the moment. So custom, but I haven't tried messing with real custom skins yet.

Kiri said...

Lunar - which one of the 3 types is it? Also do you use the face default from there? (I'm currently using Tamo's - but I might swap it, I think)

The Lunar Fox said...

I believe it's the one labeled "less muscle" and I am using that default face.

@Carla & Laura there are ways to make more than one apartment "livable" for your sims. Just use the testingcheatsEnabled true cheat, followed by the BUYDEBUG cheat. you may even need to use moveObjects on; then you delete the hidden room markers(these look like metal spheres..on some Magneto shit..not to be confused w/public room markers which look exactly the same) once you do this, you can start furnishing the space and everything
